The Idea Timberwolves won against the Capital City Public Charter School EAGLES on Wednesday with 67 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Idea greeted the New Year with with a 67-53 victory over Capital City Public Charter School. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Idea.
Malachi Hoston was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with five rebounds and five steals. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Baltimore, who scored 16 points.
Despite the defeat, Capital City Public Charter School saw an underclassman step up: Drew Whittington scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. Whittington scored a full 35.8% of Capital City Public Charter School's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kelvin Davis was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight assists.
Even though they lost, Capital City Public Charter School were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Idea has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Capital City Public Charter School, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Idea will be playing in front of their home fans against E.L. Haynes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Capital City Public Charter School won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Model Secondary School for the Deaf at 4:30 p.m. on January 5th. Model Secondary School for the Deaf will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps District of Columbia Rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Capital City Public Charter School is ranked 35th).
