It was a good run, but the R.J. Reynolds Demons unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 50-42 to Mount Tabor. R.J. Reynolds was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mount Tabor apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
R.J. Reynolds' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elliott Jessup, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Destiny Thompson, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
R.J. Reynolds' loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Mount Tabor, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
R.J. Reynolds will head out on the road to face off against Parkland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mount Tabor, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Forsyth at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Forsyth will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while Mount Tabor is ranked 64th).
