The Columbus Discoverers pushed their score all the way to 65 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Lincoln Southwest by a score of 68-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (63), Columbus still had to take the loss.
Several Discoverers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Griffin Micek, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Micek has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Hastreiter, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Braden Frager continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lincoln Southwest, scoring 20 points. Frager hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jaxyn Cruse, who scored 13 points.
Columbus' loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Lincoln Southwest, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-6.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Norfolk the next time they take the court. Columbus will host Norfolk on Thursday, while Lincoln Southwest will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
