Marie Philip was led to victory by Jeremy Novas and Xavier DeLeon. Novas almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds, while DeLeon scored 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals. DeLeon is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Stokely Karp was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Marie Philip pushed their record up to 18-7 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Newman, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.
Marie Philip will face off against Tournament Opponent at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Newman, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Brimmer & May at 4:00 p.m. on February 8th.
