Two dominant guards in Jason Castro and Nick Madsen are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Laughlin Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the GV Christian Guardians at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Laughlin is ranked 96th, while GV Christian is ranked 88th).
Laughlin pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 67-55 to White Pine. Laughlin has not had much luck with White Pine recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Meanwhile, GV Christian waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They slipped by Awaken Christian 48-47.
Among those leading the charge was Deomani Loveland, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Madsen, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and six assists.
Laughlin bumped their record down to 3-11 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for GV Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
Laughlin ended up a good deal behind GV Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2021, losing 65-49. Thankfully for Laughlin, David Thurman (who scored 17 points along with six assists and five rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
