Softball Game Preview: Lee County Bobcats vs. Morgan County Cougars

Lee County has gone 8-2 against Morgan County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bobcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lee County has three straight wins, Morgan County has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Lee County's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Powell County with a sharp 10-0 victory.

Hollie Chrisman was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Price, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Lee County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .533 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Morgan County took on Menifee County on Tuesday. The Cougars lost 21-1 to the Wildcats.

Morgan County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jenna Cantrell, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Lee County pushed their record up to 3-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Morgan County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.

Lee County was able to grind out a solid win over Morgan County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 5-0. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
