The Cape Hatteras Hurricanes had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They blew past Manteo 47-27. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Cape Hatteras also won the last time the pair played last Thursday.
Cape Hatteras' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elizabeth Fairbanks, who scored 10 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 blocks. Fairbanks has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Abby O'Neal, who scored 15 points along with 8 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Manteo still got an impressive performance from Sydney Ballance, who scored 14 points.
Cape Hatteras' victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Manteo, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cape Hatteras will square off against Camden County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Manteo, they will head out on the road to face off against Holmes at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
