The Vashon Island Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 73-35 loss at the hands of Life Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Vashon Island can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while Life Christian Academy is ranked 111th).
Life Christian Academy was led to victory by Darius Imperial and Jabez Boyd. Imperial dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Boyd almost dropped a triple-double on 22 points, nine rebounds, and nine steals. The matchup was Boyd's third in a row with at least ten points. Aidan Costanti was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Vashon Island bumped their record down to 1-4 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Life Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vashon Island is on the road again on Friday and play against Annie Wright at 5:30 p.m. on December 15th. Annie Wright will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line. As for Life Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against East Jefferson [Port Townsend/Chimacum] at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
