Los Amigos moved up to 779 from 837 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Garden Grove. The Lobos were able to make the jump by beating Ocean View 42-0.
Los Amigos led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on the Seahawks.
Rancho Alamitos's dynamic duo of Matt Culbert and Robert Torres proved tough for Anaheim to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Culbert threw for 139 yards and three touchdowns and Torres had 68 yards receiving. Jose Valenzuela helped Rancho Alamitos' passing attack out by catching four balls for 47 yards.
Don Tran was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 12 carries, he ran for 45 yards as La Quinta bested the Colonists. Alex Guizar also contributed to the rushing game with 44 yards on the ground.
Louie Alcocer made the biggest impact on defense this week as Rancho Alamitos topped Anaheim. The 5-foot-9 senior pulled down two interceptions.
6-foot-1 quarterback Culbert of Mike Enright's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 462. He has also thrown eight touchdowns. On the ground, Carl Agnew's team's Gerardo Saldivar has rushed for 692 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Al Tran. The La Quinta star has 11 catches for 284 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Rancho Alamitos takes on second place Los Amigos. Last week, the Vaqueros beat Lanny Booher's team, while the Lobos defeated Ocean View.
There should be lots of points scored when Rancho Alamitos and Los Amigos face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Vaqueros comes in having scored 157 this season, while the Lobos have scored 147. Rancho Alamitos scored 35 points last week as it topped the Colonists.
