The Herriman Mustangs will take on the Riverton Silverwolves at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Herriman is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Herriman gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They skirted past Fremont 8-6.
Sierra Prescott tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Maddy Maxfield was incredible, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aspyn Hawes, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Herriman hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 4-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Riverton put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over Mountain Ridge.
Peyton Sanchez was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. Sanchez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Riverton got a big performance out of Jaydan Bushman, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. Camryn O'Farrell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Riverton's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Herriman, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Herriman has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. However, it's not like Riverton struggles in that department as they've averaged .480. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
