The Moberly Spartans pushed their score all the way to 60 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 78-60 bruising from Southern Boone. While losing is never fun, Moberly can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 270th, while Southern Boone is ranked 50th).
When it comes to explaining why Moberly lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ty Rucker. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rucker has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Doubrava, who scored 13 points.
Moberly has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Southern Boone, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moberly will take on Hannibal at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southern Boone, they will play host again and welcome Kirksville, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
