The Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers were the 49-45 winner over the St. Laurence Vikings when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The contest between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Joliet Catholic falling 62-45. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 462nd, while St. Laurence is ranked 94th).
Despite the loss, Joliet Catholic still got an impressive performance from Sophia Mihelich, who scored 23 points along with three blocks. Another player making a difference was Symone Holman, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Joliet Catholic bumped their record down to 5-16 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for St. Laurence, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Joliet Catholic will take on Benet Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Benet Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for St. Laurence, they will head out on the road to challenge Resurrection at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
