The Living Water Homeschool Marlins will face off against the Sullivan Golden Arrows at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Living Water Homeschool is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Living Water Homeschool had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Bethesda Christian on Tuesday. The Marlins blew past the Patriots 16-7. The victory continues a trend for the Marlins in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won four in a row.
Elena Robertson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those hits were her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.
In other batting news, Isa Gonzalez Knarr was a standout: she fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. Those hits marked the first that she got this season. Hannah Jones was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Living Water Homeschool lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Sullivan strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitcher stepped up to hand North Daviess a 5-0 shutout.
Like Living Water Homeschool, Sullivan also got a great game from a two-way player: Mylee Vandevender. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Vandevender has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaylynn Hobbs, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Aphtyn Earley, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Sullivan pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Living Water Homeschool, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Sullivan's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Living Water Homeschool has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Sullivan, though, as they've been averaging only 3.5 strikeouts. Will Living Water Homeschool keep running through batters, or will the Golden Arrows buck the trend?
