It was a good run, but the Maconaquah Braves unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 48-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Caston. While losing is never fun, Maconaquah can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while Caston is ranked 49th).
Several Braves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Miranda Stoll, who scored 15 points. The matchup was Stoll's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Bailey Carson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
It was another big night for Isabel Scales, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds for Caston. Scales has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Zimpleman, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Maconaquah's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Caston, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.
Maconaquah won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Peru at 12:00 p.m. on December 28th. Peru is hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses. Caston won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against North Miami at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. Hopefully North Miami focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Wednesday.
