Softball Recap: Newark Memorial Wins Going Away Against Kennedy

Newark Memorial won the last time they faced Kennedy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Cougars blew past the Titans 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won six contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Ariana Romo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 15 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.5 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Andrea Tall was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Mahlyah Sao, who scored two runs and stole two bases.

Newark Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Kennedy, they moved to 6-3 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
