Football Recap: Kennedy Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Kennedy extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 4-1. They strolled past the Independence Falcons with points to spare, taking the game 21-6. The Thunderbirds have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Falcons, too.

It was another big night for Jace Demacabalin, who rushed for 257 yards and three touchdowns. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played.

Kennedy's run defense was locked in: Independence could only muster three yards per carry. While three picked up at least five total tackles, Jaythan Pascua stood above the rest. He made five total tackles (3.0 for loss). Kennedy didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.1.

Kennedy's defense didn't let Gunter Golla Iii., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Anthony Lara.

Having lost for the first time this season, Independence fell to 4-1. They were red-hot offensively heading into the contest (they scored no less than 31 points in the four games prior), but Kennedy's defense proved too tough.

Despite the loss, Independence still got an impressive performance from Golla Iii, who rushed for 33 yards and one score, and also threw for 143 yards on eight of 24 attempts.

Kennedy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Delano at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. The Thunderbirds will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 33 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Independence, they will welcome Liberty at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons will be up against the Patriots' rather soft defense (which has allowed 38.6 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
