Basketball Recap: Bennington Sets Scoring Season-High Against St. John's/Tipton Catholic

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bennington). They walked away with a 79-70 victory over the St. John's/Tipton Catholic Blujays on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Blujays, too.

Bennington got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaiah Garrett out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Garrett has become a key player for Bennington: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least eight boards, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brayden Palenske, who went 9 of 11 on his way to 19 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

Bennington was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, St. John's/Tipton Catholic still got an impressive performance from Edward Horinek, who went 10 for 23 en route to 29 points and seven boards. Horinek is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last six games he's played. Grant Goodaker was another key player, putting up 12 points and five rebounds.

Bennington's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for St. John's/Tipton Catholic, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-4.

Bennington has already played their next game, a 66-31 win against Inman on the 31st. As for St. John's/Tipton Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Thunder Ridge at 7:00 p.m. St. John's/Tipton Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.6 points per game this season.
