Marshfield is 2-8 against D.C. Everest since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Evergreens at 4:30 p.m.
Marshfield is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They came up short against Mosinee, falling 7-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Tigers couldn't push the score so high this time.
Marshfield saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Kraus, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, D.C. Everest put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let Hudson get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. That looming 9-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Evergreens yet this season.
Not much got past Addison Kluck, who gave up just a hit and racked up 16 Ks to keep Hudson off the board. Kluck has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Aubrey Klatt was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. Taylor Freidel was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
D.C. Everest pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Marshfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Marshfield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like D.C. Everest struggles in that department as they've averaged .345. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Marshfield suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to D.C. Everest in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
