The Hickory Red Tornadoes won against the Newton-Conover Red Devils on Tuesday with 78 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Hickory came out on top in a nail-biter against Newton-Conover and snuck past 78-76. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Izaiah Littlejohn was a one-man wrecking crew for Hickory as he scored 33 points. John Holbrook was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Newton-Conover's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Javier Lineberger, who scored 27 points, and Owen Cannon who scored 29 points along with 5 steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Hickory and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Newton-Conover, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Hickory will head out on the road to face off against Freedom at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Freedom has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 192 points over their last three games. As for Newton-Conover, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Ashe County at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th.
