Olympia is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Thursday. They will venture away from home to take on the Dr. Phillips Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Olympia barely beat Lake Nona the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Titans put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 8-1 victory on Tuesday. The Titans not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28, 2025 (when they won 17-9).
Maven Leman looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kingston Ebanks, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. He also scored a run, marking his first of the season. Samuel Grande was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Olympia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Dr. Phillips posted their closest win since March 20, 2025 on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Howell, sneaking past 3-1.
Isaiah Morales looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Diego Diaz was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Dr. Phillips' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Olympia, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Olympia has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Dr. Phillips struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Olympia beat Dr. Phillips 15-12 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
