In what's become a running theme this season, the Lowry Buckaroos gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Elko 63-28 on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-9.
Leading Lowry to victory were Britain Backus and Savannah Stoker. Backus scored 24 points, while Stoker scored 20 points along with six assists and six steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Backus has scored at least a third of Lowry's points. Another player making a difference was Khlloe Shorey, who scored six points along with 13 rebounds.
Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lindsey Johns, who scored 11 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johns has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brakkin Larsen, who scored four points.
Elko struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lowry racked up 12 assists.
Lowry is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Elko, they dropped their record down to 7-11 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Lowry and the Greenwave will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive. As for Elko, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Vaqueros at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Fernley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
