Valparaiso is on a ten-game streak of home wins, while Crown Point is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Valparaiso Vikings will take on the Crown Point Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Valparaiso's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games.
Last Tuesday, Valparaiso strolled past Hobart with points to spare, taking the game 65-50. Given Valparaiso's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Hobart is ranked 297th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jack Smiley was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with six assists and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Valparaiso's points. Caden Crowell was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Crown Point didn't have too much trouble with Andrean at home on Tuesday as they won 73-54.
Valparaiso is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Crown Point, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.
Valparaiso didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Crown Point in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 78-73 win. Will Valparaiso repeat their success, or does Crown Point have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
