Lake Weir hasn't had much luck against Citrus recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Lake Weir will be playing in front of their home fans against Citrus at 6:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Lake Weir made up a huge gap compared to their last game against West Port, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Lake Weir's pitcher stepped up to hand West Port a 6-0 shutout on Friday. That six run margin sets a new team best for the Hurricanes this season.

Lyric Hartley
02/18/25 @ Leesburg | 2 |
02/28/25 @ West Port | 1 |
The result came thanks to Lyric Hartley's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Lake Weir is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 0-7 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Chapter Jones was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in doubles. Travis Kiger was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one triple.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Citrus). They blew past Lecanto 13-3 on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Hurricanes, who have now won three matches in a row.
Landon Sanders made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Cole Palmeri and Tristan Beck did most of the damage at the plate: Palmeri scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Beck scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Beck is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stole at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cade Arnold, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Citrus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Lake Weir's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Citrus, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
