The Lugoff-Elgin Demons will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the River Bluff Gators at 8:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Lugoff-Elgin has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while River Bluff will arrive with three straight victories.
Last Friday, Lugoff-Elgin came up short against Crestwood and fell 51-41. While losing is never fun, Lugoff-Elgin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Crestwood is ranked tenth).
Nigel Chivers put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 steals. He scored a full 39% of Lugoff-Elgin's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Long, who scored 6 points.
Meanwhile, River Bluff didn't have too much trouble with Airport at home on Saturday as they won 52-36.
Indian Land's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Lugoff-Elgin's loss dropped theirs to 1-3.
