The Rivercrest Colts had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They blew past Gosnell 42-15 at home. The result was nothing new for Rivercrest, who have now won five contests by 27 points or more so far this season.
Cavonta Washington was on fire: he threw for 255 yards and four touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Michael Rainer, who picked up 112 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Rivercrest's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-7 Westside and 3-5 Pocahontas (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38.4% over those games). As for Gosnell, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4.
Rivercrest will head out on the road to face off against Trumann at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gosnell, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Harrisburg at 7:00 p.m. Harrisburg comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
