Baseball Recap: Canutillo Sets Scoring Season-High Against Chapin

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canutillo). Everything went their way against the Chapin Huskies on Friday as Canutillo made off with a 12-6 win. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Canutillo got a massive performance out of Ian Melendez, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Melendez has posted since back in February. Paul Zuniga was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Canutillo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Canutillo is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. Chapin's loss dropped their record down to 8-12.
