Ninilchik has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Thursday. After both having extra time off, the Ninilchik Wolverines and the Cook Inlet Academy Eagles will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 7:00 p.m. on December 28th. Hopefully Ninilchik focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Saturday.
Ninilchik pushed their score all the way to 55, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Seward.
Ninilchik might have lost, but man, Kade McCorison was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 33 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Rowan Mahoney, who scored 15 points along with seven steals.
Meanwhile, Cook Inlet Academy waltzed into their contest last Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They managed a 49-44 win over Susitna Valley.
Cook Inlet Academy can attribute much of their success to Ian McGarry, who scored 15 points, and Alek McGarry, who scored 21 points. The game was McGarry's third in a row with at least ten points.
Ninilchik's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-1. As for Cook Inlet Academy, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with that win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Ninilchik against Cook Inlet Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 90-39 win. With Ninilchik ahead 51-13 at the half, the game was all but over already.
