The Holland Patent Golden Knights pushed their score all the way to 85 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 101-85 to Rome Free Academy. Holland Patent lost against Rome Free Academy in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 86-77 score last time.
Rome Free Academy was led to victory by Surafia Norries and Uzziah Grimes. Norries dropped a triple-double on 22 points, ten rebounds, and 11 assists, while Grimes scored 34 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Deandre Neal, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds.
Holland Patent's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Rome Free Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Holland Patent will be home for the holidays to greet Vernon-Verona-Sherrill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Vernon-Verona-Sherrill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Friday. Rome Free Academy will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Baldwinsville at 6:30 p.m. on December 15th. Baldwinsville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 228th, while Rome Free Academy is ranked 41st).
