NSU University's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Marathon 9-0. Considering the Sharks have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Juju Logan was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zachary Cairns, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
NSU University kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Key West sidestepped Miami Christian for a 6-4 victory.
Cruz Holmes looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Roman Garcia, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Auggy Davila, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
NSU University's record is now 7-0. As for Key West, their record now sits at 3-1.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. NSU University has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .483. However, it's not like Key West struggles in that department as they've averaged .462. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
