After a string of nine wins, the Lakeland Dreadnaughts's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 74-61 to Buchholz. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Wednesday (58), Lakeland still had to take the loss.
Several Dreadnaughts players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jamesion Young, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Young has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tre' Jackson, who scored 18 points.
Lakeland's defeat dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Buchholz, they pushed their record up to 9-6 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
Lakeland won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Eastside at 3:00 p.m. on January 13th. Eastside will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 406th, while Lakeland is ranked 82nd). As for Buchholz, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fort White at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Fort White will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
