Walnut has been on the road for four straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Diamond Bar Brahmas at 6:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Workman scored an imposing 55 points on Monday, Walnut still came out on top. Walnut took their match against Workman 67-55. Given Walnut's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while Workman is ranked 566th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Myles Wainwright continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for him. Chris Wang was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Diamond Bar had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They secured a 54-48 W over Rowland.
Walnut pushed their record up to 8-5 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Diamond Bar, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.
Walnut beat Diamond Bar 67-59 in their previous matchup back in January. Will Walnut repeat their success, or does Diamond Bar have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
