After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Silver Valley, the Riverside Prep Silver Knights were happy to have found some success on Friday. They strolled past Academy for Academic Excellence with points to spare, taking the game 81-67. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Raoul Churchill was his usual excellent self, going 11 for 17 from beyond the arc en route to 48 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Marrion Brown, who scored seven points along with 17 rebounds.
Riverside Prep's win bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Academy for Academic Excellence, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season.
Riverside Prep will square off against University Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. University Prep is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Academy for Academic Excellence won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Sultana at 9:00 a.m. on January 20th. Sultana is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
