SCISA 8-Man Region I (8 Man) recap Sept. 26, 2012
Henry Academy extended the longest winning streak in SCISA 8-Man Region I (8 Man) this week by beating Faith Christian, 66-36. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Patriots.
Charleston Collegiate was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from ninth to fifth in the league. Charleston Collegiate defeated Beaufort Academy 72-8 earlier in the week.
James Island Christian's dynamic duo of Josh Black and Ben Hamilton proved tough for Cathedral Academy to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Black threw for 207 yards and two touchdowns and Hamilton had 92 yards receiving. Daniel Ulmer helped James Island Christian's passing attack out by catching three balls for 84 yards.
Paul Deloach was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 387 yards on 26 carries as Henry Academy lost to the Generals. Teammate Cody Youmans added to the ground attack by rushing for 25 yards.
Henry Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Patriots feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Youmans has thrown for 494 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Gibson Wall has 12 catches for 377 yards. Deloach leads the league in rushing with 1182 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Beaufort Academy and Coastal Christian Prep. Wheatley Alford's team comes into the matchup ranked 21st in the state, while Coastal Christian Prep ranks 13th.
There should be lots of points scored when Cathedral Academy and Mike Mccoy's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Rick Howell's team comes in having scored 238 this season, while the Patriots have scored 238. The Generals scored 82 points last week as they topped JB Weber's team.
Archie Horne's team took down Beaufort Academy 72-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
