The Our Lady of Good Counsel Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the St. Mary's Ryken Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. St. Mary's Ryken took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Our Lady of Good Counsel, who comes in off a win.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Our Lady of Good Counsel and Bishop Ireton, and Our Lady of Good Counsel kept the tradition alive. The Falcons were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Cardinals on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Ryan Martin looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Jack Morin was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Christian Rodriguez, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Our Lady of Good Counsel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, St. Mary's Ryken was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of DeMatha. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Knights have suffered against the Stags since April 30, 2021.
St. Mary's Ryken saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Michael, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Our Lady of Good Counsel's record now sits at 12-4. As for St. Mary's Ryken, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
St. Mary's Ryken's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Our Lady of Good Counsel has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for St. Mary's Ryken, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Our Lady of Good Counsel keep running through batters, or will the Knights buck the trend?
