The Ferndale Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Fortuna, falling 72-26. While losing is never fun, Ferndale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1206th, while Fortuna is ranked 198th).
Ferndale lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Thomas Fergison, who scored nine points. Fergison scored a full 34.6% of Ferndale's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Prescott Langer, who scored six points.
Ferndale's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Fortuna, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-4.
