The Wilson Lakemen came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Akron 66-43. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Wilson also won the last time the pair played back in February.
Rian Faery was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. The match was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Peyton McInnis, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds.
Wilson's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.9 points per game. As for Akron, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Wilson will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Newfane at 6:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Akron will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Medina at 6:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
