Basketball Recap: Richmond Piles Up the Points Against Holden

Richmond won the last time they faced Holden and things went their way on Monday too. The Richmond Spartans claimed a resounding 65-34 victory over the Holden Eagles. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 21 points or more this season.

Richmond was led to victory by Gabriel Johnson and Dryden Hendrix. Johnson almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards, while Hendrix went 6 for 10 en route to 14 points along with five assists and five steals. Those five steals gave Hendrix a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nolan Quick, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 16 points and three steals.

Richmond smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Richmond's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Holden, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Richmond will face off against Lexington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Holden, they will take on Santa Fe at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
