The Beamer Titans are taking a road trip to square off against the Enumclaw Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Beamer couldn't beat Kentlake on Wednesday even though they stacked seven runs on them in the second inning. The Titans lost 28-12 to the Falcons. The Titans have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Asialynn Solia made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Ayris Thurman, who went 1-for-3 with three runs.
Meanwhile, Enumclaw had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it 13 on Wednesday. They blew past the Royals 19-1. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Nadia Flaherty made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Flaherty was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alyssa Harris, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Ashlyn Elder was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Enumclaw kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 24 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 15 consecutive matches.
Enumclaw's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.4 runs over those games. As for Beamer, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Beamer has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .481. However, it's not like Enumclaw struggles in that department as they've averaged .584. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Beamer suffered a grim 21-1 defeat to Enumclaw when the teams last played back in April. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
