Given San Clemente's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while Tesoro is ranked 351st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
San Clemente's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Christian Fernandez, who scored nine points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Whidden, who scored 11 points along with two blocks.
San Clemente is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. As for Tesoro, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season.
San Clemente will take on Capistrano Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Tesoro, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Trabuco Hills at 7:00 p.m.
