The Garinger Wildcats will look to defend their home court against the West Mecklenburg Hawks at 6:00 p.m. Garinger will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
Garinger has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 35 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Hopewell 56-19 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-5.
Garinger found their leader in underclassman Misa Garris, who scored 19 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Garris has scored at least 25% of Garinger's points. Marisa Garvin was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Meanwhile, West Mecklenburg was the victim of a rough 45-25 loss at the hands of Highland Tech on Tuesday.
Garinger pushed their record up to 6-0 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 39.67 points. As for West Mecklenburg, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Garinger was dealt a bruising 55-7 loss at the hands of West Mecklenburg when the teams last played back in December of 2019. Can Garinger avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
