The Zapata Hawks fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Raymondville by a score of 52-43 on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Zapata also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Raymondville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colt Cavazos, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Slevin Gutierrez, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Zapata pushed their record up to 6-16 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for Raymondville, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-21.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Zapata will take on the Pirates at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Raymondville, they will be playing at home against the Gators at 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
