The Clackamas Cavaliers will head out on the road to face off against the South Medford Panthers on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Clackamas had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took down Newberg 35-16. Winning may never get old, but Clackamas sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Jaxson Decker was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 204 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Luke Baker also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Meanwhile, South Medford got themselves on the board against North Salem on Friday, but North Salem never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 35-0 victory over the Vikings at home. The result was nothing new for South Medford, who have now won four matches by 34 points or more so far this season.
Among those leading the charge was Kameron Rague, who rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Ryder Scheid also helped out as he racked up 114 rushing yards.
Clackamas has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for South Medford, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.
Clackamas barely slipped by South Medford in their previous meeting back in December of 2017, winning 31-30. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was South Medford's Robbie Patterson, who threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
