Two dominant guards in Demetrious Perry and Sir Marius Jones are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The El Camino Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Sacramento Dragons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. El Camino is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
El Camino lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Wednesday was a bit more commanding. Their rough 77-54 loss to Christian Brothers might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, El Camino can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 846th, while Christian Brothers is ranked 216th).
Meanwhile, Sacramento pushed their score all the way to 56 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rio Americano.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jones, who scored 19 points. He hasn't dropped below 16 points for four straight games. Damarion Taylor was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
El Camino has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-20 record this season. As for Sacramento, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-7.
El Camino was taken down by Sacramento 78-47 in their previous matchup back in January. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point El Camino was down 45-16.
