The Statesville Christian Lions will face off against the Hickory Christian Academy Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Statesville Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Last Friday, Statesville Christian beat Friendship Christian 6-2.
Stephen Nielsen was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Statesville Christian is 5-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Nielsen was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Hickory Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Statesville Christian, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Statesville Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hickory Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Statesville Christian might still be hurting after the 13-0 defeat they got from Hickory Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in April.
