This Week's Big Showdown
The showdown between Dowling Catholic (3rd in the power rankings) and Valley (8th) shaped up to be more of a takedown. Dowling Catholic blew past Valley 31 - 9. As a result, Dowling Catholic rose three spots in the power rankings.
No Stoppin 'Em
71. That was the combined point total for Bettendorf and Iowa City West when they went head to head last week, and it set the benchmark for all power ranking teams. Bettendorf strolled past Iowa City West with points to spare, taking the game 43 - 28. The win boosted Bettendorf a satisfying six spots in the power rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Xavier (2nd in the power rankings) and Lewis Central (1st). Both teams have their heads held high after dominating their previous opponents. Lewis Central and Xavier both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Lewis Central with 11 and Xavier with ten), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
