The Marina Mariners entered their tilt with the North Monterey County Condors with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Marina narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past North Monterey County 62-60. Given Marina's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 399th, while North Monterey County is ranked 1002nd), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Marina's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Julius Robinson led the charge by scoring 26 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Robinson has scored at least a third of Marina's points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Bonnard Webb, who scored 19 points.
Marina's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for North Monterey County, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marina will take on Seaside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Monterey County, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Alisal at 7:00 p.m.
