Shenandoah is 7-1 against Union County since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Shenandoah Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Union County Patriots at 7:30 p.m. Shenandoah is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Shenandoah struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (Eastern Hancock had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. The match between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Shenandoah falling 60-46. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for them in their matchups with Eastern Hancock: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite their loss, Shenandoah saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Cannon Case, who scored nine points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Haygen Tomlinson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Union County suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They were outmatched by Centerville at home and fell 61-32. Union County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Mason Stewart, who scored six points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Davis, who scored seven points.
Shenandoah has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season. Union County's record now sits at 6-9.
Saturday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Shenandoah have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 42.4% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Union County struggles in that department as they've made 38.1% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Shenandoah didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Union County in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 53-49 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Union County's Brad Meadows, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will it be that much easier for Shenandoah to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
