LEXINGTON, Ky. -
Lexington Catholic (Lexington, Ky.) didn't let up as Saturday's game came to a close, scoring 14 in the fourth quarter to seal a 34-6 victory over
Mercer County (Harrodsburg, Ky.).
After taking the lead on a
Reese Ryan touchdown pass to
Marcelis Logan in the first quarter, the Knights led 20-6 at the half.
Mercer County's only touchdown came on a 28-yard pass from
Chris Goodman to
Lane Peavler in the second quarter.
Lexington Catholic has had a tough season, allowing 34.8 points per game. However, Lexington Catholic's defense dug in and limited the Titans well below their season average of 27.2 points per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 44-7 win for the Lexington school.
With the win the Knights extended their winning streak to four games. The loss was the third in a row for Mercer County.
Lexington Catholic (4-2) goes up against Boyle County in a 4A District 5 game matchup next week, while Mercer County (3-3) locks horns with Marion County also in a 4A District 5 game.
