Woodlan is a perfect 10-0 against Bluffton since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Warriors will challenge the Tigers at 1:00 p.m. Woodlan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.5 runs per game this season.
Woodlan came out on top against Heritage on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Warriors walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Patriots. The Warriors have beaten the Patriots the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Patriots has come to flipping the script.
Alyssa Harvey was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Victoria Crozier, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Bluffton waltzed into their match on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They skirted past the Golden Falcons 6-4. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 14, 2019, but that streak is no more.
Madyson Sonnigsen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Krista Blair, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Konley Ault, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Bluffton's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-13. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Woodlan, their win bumped their record up to 22-4.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Woodlan hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .408. However, it's not like Bluffton struggles in that department as they've averaged .332. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Woodlan's way against Bluffton when the teams last played on May 1st, as Woodlan made off with a 17-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
