Basketball Recap: Pickerington Central Wins Going Away Against Dunbar

Pickerington Central had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They strolled past the Dunbar Wolverines with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 74-58. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 60-52 win the Wolverines walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2024.

Dunbar lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Chrishod Averette, who went 7-for-9 to rack up 17 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jay'Mal Whitfield, who shot 60% from the field en route to 15 points.

Pickerington Central and Dunbar will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Tigers are set to challenge their familiar foe Logan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Dunbar will face off against rival Meadowdale at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
